About me
I am a Humanistic Counsellor, and my core approach is Person-Centred. I work with adults, children and young people. I also offer personal therapy for Counsellors in training.
Maybe you are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self confidence, bereavement, loss, work-related problems, relationship break-downs, perhaps? I often work with Clients with ADHD/neurodiversity and selective mutism and I can offer other creative ways of working if words are just too difficult. I also specialise in narcissistic abuse (including adult children of narcissistic parents), trauma, domestic abuse, self-harm and sexual abuse.
I understand how daunting and scary it can be to make the decision to come to counselling, particularly if this is your first experience. I can offer you a safe, non-judgemental, confidential and compassionate space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
I work in a client-led way, so I will be led by you, at your pace. You can decide how many sessions you would like (time-limited) or, if you would prefer, open-ended therapy. Our sessions will be for 50 minutes (therapeutic hour) and can be either in person or online.
If you feel you would like to know some more about the way in which I work, I can offer you a free, initial 20-minute online/telephone consultation, which is a discovery call, for us to decide whether we would like to work together and if I am the right Counsellor for you.
As well as working in my Private Practice with adults, children and young people, I also work for a specialist UK Agency as a Children & Young People's Counsellor/Play Therapist, and I am a Counselling Tutor currently working at a Counselling College. I am also a Holistic Sound & Voice Therapist (BAST methodology).
To ensure I work ethically and safely, I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework, and this underpins all of my work to offer you the best and safe practice. I have regular clinical supervision to ensure I work safely and ethically.
I hope that Counselling may help you find out more about yourself, exploring and understanding some of your behavioural patterns and different aspects of yourself, which may assist you in the process of change and growth. I'm here to give you a safe and compassionate space.
Warmly, Debbie 🌻

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
