About me
I qualified as a person centred counsellor in March 2013, and have been evolving my practice ever since. I took on further study and graduated from the University of Roehampton in 2017 with a BA(Hons) degree in counselling. In June 2026, I have completed Level 1 training in what we call a multiplicity approach with Internal Family Systems (IFS) – a fairly new method of therapy that works particularly well for trauma.
I see adults referred through BUPA, self referred in person, and online. My specialist area is bereavement where I have much experience of helping people face different types of loss, and have further qualifications in this area. I also offer sessions by telephone.
I have recently taken on two students, and am able to offer 'affordable' counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been awarded a BA(Hons) Degree (University of Roehampton). Training has incorporated Internal Family Systems (IFS). I have recently undertaken updated training and been awarded IFS Level 1.
I have 35 years' experience of helping people cope with mental health challenges such as anxiety, stress, self-harm, depression and post-natal depression.
I used to work in the bereavement service at St Michael's Hospice in Basingstoke. I run quarterly bereavement events in Haverhill, and am on a mission to break down the isolation faced in bereavement.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Here is a little info about me, and the way I work:-
I have a wealth of experience helping people through bereavement issues, anxiety, stress, depression, baby loss, and the searing pain that can bring. We can never bring our loved ones back, no matter how much we often long to do so. However, we can learn how to adjust and find a place to hold them in our hearts, without moving on from them, yet moving forward.
I now live locally in Haverhill, but previously worked at St Michael's Hospice in Basingstoke, Hampshire. I began my counselling training in the bereavement service, back in 2013. Sitting by people's bedsides at the end of their lives, and also listening to relatives, is the most amazing privilege I have ever had. Just the holding of a hand, or the stroking of an arm, sometimes was all that was needed. I cherish many stories from those days, and truly hope I was able to bring solace to all those I sat with. I would sometimes help the hospice chaplain run the in-house service for our day-patients.
I have faced many challenges throughout life. I truly believe that if I can experience the toughest of times and come through, still standing, still moving forward, then so can you. Are you ready to find out how?
I know considering counselling can be hard, but I believe good things are worth fighting for, and that includes you and your wellbeing! This is yourself you're investing in, and this promises to be the biggest journey of your life so far. By adopting a gentle approach, connecting with you at a deeper level, alongside empathy and sheer hard work (from both of us), you can experience a transformation that is healing.
Of course, nothing is ever guaranteed, but I can certainly promise you that change will happen! The counselling process takes time, and we usually begin to notice change within around six sessions (sometimes less, sometimes more).
I have recently moved to using Internal Family Systems (IFS) as a way of working. In partnership, we can discover what is going on for you, on the inside, thus helping your understanding and improving your wellbeing. There is no one way that fits all - each one of us is unique, and we have our own way of being. It is my job to discover what that is and to help you to make the most amazing discovery - who you really are on the inside!
Why not get in touch to discover the magic for yourself. You will see from my website testimonials, over many years, that clients do not regret the time we spend together. There may be tears along the way, but you will come out stronger, more fulfilled, and perhaps having experienced a beautiful journey of release. Now that's got to be worth fighting for.
