About me
Hi, I’m Deborah
Life throws all sorts of challenges our way, and reaching out for support isn't always easy, but taking that step is a sign of real strength.
My practice is grounded in a person-centred approach, which means I truly believe you are the expert on your own life and choices. I don't give advice or tell you what to do. Instead, I offer an open, non-judgemental space where we work together collaboratively, adapting our sessions to suit what feels right for you.
My Background & Approach
Alongside my clinical counselling qualifications, I bring nearly 25 years of experience in secondary education and pastoral care, supporting people through all kinds of life challenges. My background in Biomedical Science and Pharmacology gives me a practical understanding of how stress, burnout, and emotional pressure affect us physically. Together with my own lived experience of navigating long-term health, this shapes the warmth, down-to-earth empathy, and practical insight I bring to the therapy room, helping you feel genuinely heard and supported, whatever you are going through.
How I Can Support You:
Adults, General Emotional Wellbeing & Life Transitions: Supporting adults through low mood, anxiety, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, or simply feeling 'stuck'.
Children (9+), Young People & Parents: Drawing on 25 years of teaching and pastoral care, alongside my current Advanced Specialist CPCAB Level 5 qualification in Children and Young People, I support young people in navigating educational pressures, emotional regulation, self-confidence alongside general life challenges.
Chronic Illness & Long-Term Health Conditions: Supporting individuals through the complex emotional and physical impacts of chronic health conditions, including medical fatigue, identity shifts, chronic pain, and loss.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Taking the first step into therapy can feel daunting. I offer a 'no charge' 20-minute introductory consultation either via telephone or in person. This is a more informal chat to discuss what you are looking for, and see if we feel like a 'good fit'.
I work 'in person' at my dedicated counselling room attached to my home with a private entrance and parking. The entrance is separate to my home via a side gate. There are 2 small steps into the doorway.
I also offer counselling online and via telephone.
