About me

I have a degree in Addiction Counselling and Treatment. I have worked in residential treatment centres for the past 10 years and take pride in being a member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP).

I started my own journey into recovery from addiction in 2007,  this is why it is so important to me that my clients feel heard and understood. I offer a safe place for my clients to explore their feelings and the impact addiction has had on both their lives and the people they love and care for. I also offer psychological education around the illness and how it operates, in hope clients identify and release themselves from the vicious cycle and ball and chain of addiction.

Since commencing my professional journey in addiction treatment in 2014, my enthusiasm for this field has been unwavering for over twenty years. I find immense satisfaction in facilitating individuals' paths to recovery, helping to restore their sense of worth and self-regard.

With over a decade's experience, my expertise extends to treating addiction and various mental health issues, including trauma. Trained in the Person-Centred Approach, I ensure a supportive presence for my clients, offering an empathetic ear and a non-judgmental space. My practice includes Motivational Interviewing, helping clients make their own choices and inspiring them to take charge of their decisions. In support of lasting change, I employ Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques that equip clients with effective strategies for sustaining recovery and partner with them to set and attain realistic goals.

Throughout my years of service, I have always prioritised the well-being of my clients, harnessing my counselling abilities to boost their confidence on their personal paths to rehabilitation. My goal is to assist individuals at any stage of their recovery journey, passionately committing to guiding them toward recognising their internal and external capacities for leading joyful, balanced, and significant lives they can cherish.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
