About me

I am a qualified Integrative therapist, for those unfamiliar with counselling jargon - an 'integrative approach' simply means that I am able to 'integrate' or choose from any number of theoretical approaches. I work with individuals, couples and children/young people. I have completed accreditation status membership with BACP to allow me to offer all clients a safe and ethical service.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My details can be found on the BACP register . I offer a highly confidential service and am able to see clients at my private practice in Merthyr Tydfil.

Attending counselling for the first time can be a big step and I appreciate that you might feel anxious about what might happen, this is why I hold an initial consultation with no obligation to continue.

GP, corporate clients and EAP referrals welcome.

All work is insured and I hold a up to date DBS at all times.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I provide group training/courses on working with victims and offenders of Abuse. Training packages will be tailored specifically for clients needs.

I am now able to offer a therapeutic programme to couples experiencing domestic abuse in their relationship. This package will involve working safely with offender, victim and children in order to allow the offender to make positive changes, safety planning for the whole family and allow the family to live together free from abuse or to separate safely and amicably. I offer this service to clients in private practice and through referral from voluntary and statutory organisations. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this service further.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which is one of the first organisations to have its voluntary register assessed and accredited under a new scheme set up by the Department of Health. This is administered by an independent body which is accountable to Parliament; The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.

Accreditation means that the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists meets the authority’s high standards in governance, standard setting, education and training, management, complaints and information.

My practice encompasses the code of ethics set forth by the BACP which is available to view on their website.
