About me
I am a qualified Integrative counsellor, For those unfamiliar with counselling jargon - an 'integrative approach' simply means that I am able to 'integrate' or choose from any number of theoretical approaches. This integration will include the best known 'brands' such as Relational psychodynamic, humanistic , cognitive behavioural Therapy (CBT) or existential. This has the advantage of being incredibly flexible and of giving you the client an important voice in just how much or how little change you would like to achieve and over what length of time.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My details can be found on the BACP register ( no:698178). I offer a highly confidential service and am able to see clients at my private practice in Merthyr Tydfil
Attending counselling for the first time can be a big step and I appreciate that you might feel anxious about what might happen, this is why I hold an initial consultation with no obligation to continue. There may be times when you need support and the art of listening is the first step in helping someone through difficult periods in their life. Counselling is a non-judgmental experience where you can discuss your problems in confidence within a safe space where you feel supported.
I am now able to offer a therapeutic programme to couples experiencing domestic abuse in their relationship. This package will involve working safely with offender, victim and children in order to allow the offender to make positive changes, safety planning for the whole family and allow the family to live together free from abuse or to separate safely and amicably. I offer this service to clients in private practice and through referral from voluntary and statutory organisations. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this service further.
I specialise in trauma and qualified in REWIND therapy in 2017.
You will be seen in a private and confidential space. There is parking available directly outside the premises.
GP, corporate clients and EAP referrals welcome.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which is one of the first organisations to have its voluntary register assessed and accredited under a new scheme set up by the Department of Health. This is administered by an independent body which is accountable to Parliament; The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
Accreditation means that the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists meets the authority’s high standards in governance, standard setting, education and training, management, complaints and information.
My practice encompasses the code of ethics set forth by the BACP which is available to view on their website.
