About me
You will always be the one who knows the most about you. So my approach is Person-Centred Therapy. My focus is on understanding you, why you feel this way, how life has moulded your expectations, what you need and who you aspire to be. Together we can understand, be kind and explore the feelings that are feeding into the behaviours. These behaviours may be due to trauma, adverse childhood experiences, loss in its many forms, bereavement and so forth.
I understand that starting counselling can be quite daunting, and so I will absolutely not leave you sat in an awkward silence. The counselling relationship that we build is really fundamental to how we work together. I am told by clients that I am down to earth and put them at their ease. If you feel you are in a safe/confidential environment, we can build from that and be curious about the past and present. We can then work together to help you find ways to be more authentically yourself. From there, it is my experience that everything else falls into place.
Counselling sessions with me offer a full 60 minutes that’s devoted to you - to talk openly to someone impartial about whatever is on your mind. To be heard, understood and supported, without fear of judgment and in confidence.
Between Us Counselling gives you a safe space to reflect and explore your world. Helping you take a ‘helicopter’ view of your life and your relationships, see yourself from a new perspective and so choose a way forward.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Boarding School Syndrome -
I have completed many CPD trainings in connection to how boarding school might effect the lives of the pupils who attended. Most notably, a diploma level training course led by Nick Duffell for counsellors who work with ex-boarders. My own boarding school experience from age 11-18 years has been the most useful collection of experiences and information. .
Additionally, I have contributed the chapter 'The Effect of Boarding School on Sibling Relationships' which is from the book - 'The Unmaking of Them. Clinical Reflections on Boarding School Syndrome' edited by Nick Duffell. Published by Routledge (2025).
I also completed a research dissertation on this subject - Dawn Grundy (2021) 'An Exploration of the Trauma of Attending Boys Boarding School and its Impact on Adult Life', University of Chester: MA dissertation.

The relationship is everything, of course, so before booking counselling sessions, we’ll have a free 30-minute no-obligation telephone or Zoom meeting. This is useful for me to explain the way that I work, and you can get a sense of whether you would feel comfortable talking with me. We can discuss your needs and expectations of therapy and decide whether we’re a good fit.
Please message me and we can organise a mutually convenient time/day.
