About me

Hello. I am David, Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist, Chef, Musician, Husband, Father. I offer counselling to Individuals 18+ for a wide range of *Relational *Emotional *Self-esteem *Trauma *Identity- related issues. Working out of Central Exeter and online.

You can expect a warm, present and down-to-earth therapeutic relationship from me, sensitively using observation and active listening to develop a trust that is rooted in validation of experiences and outcomes.

I offer a free consultation meeting via Zoom or Telephone and in some cases can be face-to-face. The meeting will last around 15 minutes, we will talk about your background and experiences, this will help us both decide if we are a good fit for further sessions. If I feel I am not the right therapist for you, I can assist you in finding a more suitable arrangement with another professional or organisation which is better suited to your needs.

When we work together you can expect our sessions to be tailored to your specific needs which will continually develop over time. As an Intergrative therapist, I draw from a wide range of approaches, this useful approach can enable us to work at a considerate and informed pace which can foster a true sense of understanding and resonance.

My work is informed by Transactional Analysis (T.A), Internal Family Systems (I.F.S), Gestalt Therapy, Non-Violent Communication (N.V.C) and Polyvagal Theory.

Counselling & Psychotherapy is an investment into Oneself and is an invaluable transformative process. With the right conditions and consistent effort it can permanently alter ones' perspective for the better, enabling social interactions to alter for the better, resulting in a world that generally feels safer to navigate and most of all Joyful more frequently.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
