About me

Sometimes something happens: a loss, a crisis, a relationship ending. Sometimes life changes so much you no longer recognise where you've ended up. Many men find themselves dealing with shame, irritability, exhaustion, a sense of drifting without purpose, or strain in their relationships, with little space to talk about it honestly.

I offer online therapy for men who are working through shame, self-criticism, questions of purpose and direction, and difficulties in close relationships. I also work with women who want to better understand the men in their lives, or who wish to explore difficult experiences with men in a safe, non-judgemental setting.

It isn't only training and textbooks for me. I've experienced depression, shame and a lack of direction, including hitting rock bottom, so I have some understanding of what it can feel like to be there.

I'm a therapist trained in the person-centred tradition, and I work actively and collaboratively. I don't only reflect back what you tell me. I offer guidance and suggestions, ask direct questions, share honest observations and, where it helps, use practical tools from coaching, CBT and mindfulness.

We agree on the direction together, and I'm open about what I think might help. You can expect a steadier sense of who you are, less shame about how you've been coping, and more clarity on where you're heading. If you'd prefer a therapist who says little and leaves you to lead, I may not be the best fit. If you want someone who works alongside you and takes part, then I'd love to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
