About me
Thanks for stopping to look at my profile. I am a fully accredited Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, and I'm here to help you either whether you are feeling lost, in a personal crisis or when you want to understand more about why you are the way you are...
I work in ways that may help you link past events and pattens to your present feelings or behaviour. I work using many of the latest advances in Neuroscience to help my clients gain better control of their feelings and help bring improvements to their relationships and resolve issues.
I believe that our sessions should be as unique as you are, but these are some of the techniques that may be used in our therapy sessions. I only use certain techniques if I feel it would be of overall benefit to you.
I have regular slots available for new clients from late April which are available to book now. If tgat seems to long to wait why not arrange a free 15 min phone call which are available over the next few days or weeks.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Some recent testimonials include :
'Crystal Clear Counselling provides a relaxed, homely style of counselling. No pressure, no psychobabble, just a listening environment and wise words, just when you need them. Highly recommended.'
"I'm really grateful for all of your help and feel you've made a massive difference to my level of happiness".
" Danny Hickling was recommended to me after several years of anxiety and depression. Was very nervous attending my first session. However, Danny was friendly, easy to talk to and soon put me at ease. He worked out what he felt he could help me with. We did a lot of talking! Developed strategies to help me cope with life's dramas. Thought this would be a tearful experience but far from it. We laughed a lot too. Am a calmer, happier and more positive person than before according to friends and family. Thanks Danny." - D Norwich
'I just wanted to tell you how much I have benefitted from our sessions - you’ve given me excellent advice, which I am trying to follow. You really helped me go through my bereavement and I feel much better now. ' A Cromer
"Danny helped me get through a very difficult time in my life in a very warm and encouraging manner".
"Sometimes we all need someone we can trust to talk things out with, which is where you came in"
"Thanks to you I have my life back, I am happier than I have been in a long
long time and busier. I am enjoying the company of others again and getting
involved where I had been backing off in the past. I even managed to play my
guitar to support a singing group at my church. It was only the one song but
it is a start"
C Cromer
The following are accounts from the parents of children and teenagers who have chosen counselling for their children.
After my son suffered a severe dog attack, he became incredibly anxious around all animals and around people in new situations. Due to his anxieties, my son was cautious of having counselling with a person he did not know. Danny completely reassured my son, made him feel totally at ease and after the first appointment my son came out elated, excited to talk about the session and very keen to go back. In a few sessions using traditional techniques and EMDR therapy my son was able to begin the process of exposure to dogs. Within a year my son was able to return to beaches and parks with dogs present with a feeling of safety and security. I have complete faith in Danny's work and will be ever grateful for the help he has given my son.
My daughter worked with Danny to try to help her with her anxieties. My daughter found Danny to be very easy to talk to, reassuring and very calming. Danny talked through with my daughter and I the various aspects of the counselling process, ensuring that we both fully understood and were happy to proceed. I was reassured that there was a waiting area for me on the premises and found Danny to be incredibly professional.
Lastly here is an inspirational true story that a client wrote and gave permission for it to be used here - of course, I use no name to keep their identity anonymous.
Four years ago I found myself lost and lacking any direction. I was in an abusive relationship and knew I needed to get out, but somehow couldn't find the strength to leave. I had seen a couple of counsellors but couldn't seem to make any headway.
When I had my first counselling session with Danny, I really felt like it was my last resort. After several months of sessions and a lot of soul-searching, I finally felt things starting to shift. I managed to free myself from the abusive relationship and started to see that things could be different.
When you have low self-esteem sometimes it can be all-consuming, if you have no value on yourself then its so easy to get sucked into abusive relationships which just compounds everything you already felt about yourself.
Leaving isn't just about closing the door on someone, but its about rebuilding a relationship with yourself and with Danny's help I was able to do that.
Two years on and I'm in a much happier place. I'm in a happy relationship, we are due to get married next year and I have a much greater sense of self.
I look back and wonder whatever possessed me to accept such bad behaviour, but at least I know going forward that will never happen to me again, but I won't allow it to. Once you value yourself, then you simply won't accept bad behaviour anymore. Danny was instrumental in helping me make the changes I needed and if you want to find your happy place, I would have no hesitation in recommending his services.
