About me
Hello. I'm Dani, a Level 5 qualified, trauma-informed integrative counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I believe there is something powerful about making time and space to prioritise accessing the support you need, and learning to truly understand yourself. Counselling can help us make sense of our experiences, develop self-compassion and begin to see possibilities for change.
My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative and compassionate. I understand that coming to counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you have spent a long time struggling or feeling overwhelmed. I aim to build a therapeutic relationship with you where you feel able to explore your experiences at your own pace, with no judgement.
As an integrative counsellor, I understand that every person is different, so I draw on different therapeutic approaches and adapt the way I work to your individual needs and goals.
I work with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties and life circumstances. This can include depression and anxiety, stress and overwhelm, challenging relationship dynamics, attachment difficulties, grief and loss, difficult life transitions, questions around identity and self-worth, making difficult decisions, or simply feeling stuck and unsure about what comes next.
A central part of my work is helping people develop a deep understanding of themselves and their patterns. We can explore where these patterns may have come from, how they may have developed as ways of coping or protecting yourself, and how they might be influencing your emotions, relationships and choices today.
I also work with individuals and couples who are trying to make sense of challenging relationship dynamics and their impact on their wellbeing. I have additional training in couples counselling, abuse counselling and supporting survivors of narcissistic abuse.
Whether you are dealing with the effects of trauma, struggling in a relationship, navigating a significant change, trying to understand patterns that keep repeating, or simply feeling that something in your life needs to change, I would love to hear from you to talk about how I might be able to help.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Level 5 qualified Trauma-Informed Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have experience working with a diverse range of clients, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, disabled clients and neurodivergent people. I am committed to providing an inclusive and neurodivergent-friendly practice where each person is treated with respect and understanding.
My training and professional development include:
- Level 5 Diploma in Trauma-Informed Counselling
- Level 6 training in Trauma Counselling
- Additional training and certification in Couples Counselling
- Additional training in counselling survivors of narcissistic abuse
- Additional training in Abuse Counselling
- Autism-Friendly Practice training
- Gestalt Therapy training
Alongside my counselling practice, I am also a Counselling Tutor, teaching trauma-informed therapy to trainee and qualified counsellors. This allows me to remain closely engaged with current therapeutic practice while supporting the development of other counsellors.
I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches so I can adapt counselling to the individual rather than expecting them to fit a particular model. Trauma-informed principles and compassion-focused therapy strongly inform my practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
