About me

I am an Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and I trained within the NHS. I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from a BACP accredited college.  I also hold degrees in both Social Science and Law, and have run my own business in the City of London for over 20 years. I am Accredited with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), the largest professional body for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK. My practice complies with the BACP’s stringent ethical and professional guidelines. I have full DBS certification, professional indemnity insurance and clinical supervision.

I have practices in Kent, West Sussex and online via Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp or Teams.  In addition to my private practice I also provide workplace counselling for a number of different organisations. I am a registered provider with Health insurers BUPA, AXA Health, Simply Health, Cigna, WPA, Vitality Health, Aviva and others. If you have cover with any of these organisations your therapy costs may be met by your insurer. I also receive client referrals from Corporate Occupational Health departments and consultancies.

I offer a telephone assessment session free of charge for new/prospective clients.  Please contact me to discuss.

I see clients (individuals and couples) with a broad range of presenting issues including:

  • Anxiety
  • ADHD
  • Abuse
  • Panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Addiction
  • Generalised anxiety disorder
  • Stress
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Family issues
  • Anger management
  • Loss/bereavement
  • Low self esteem and trauma amongst others (see below).

I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental and empathic environment, within which clients can start to build a deeper understanding of themselves and gain insight into their problems. I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is a key to successful outcomes in therapy.

The Integrative approach to which I subscribe, allows me to draw upon different therapeutic approaches including person centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy.   I feel this way of working greatly benefits my clients and can be 'tailor made' to suit you and the problems you may be experiencing in life. I am more than happy to discuss this with you and to answer any questions you may have. Please contact me for a free initial consultation and assessment by phone or Zoom.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked and trained within an NHS Primary Care Psychological Therapies environment in addition to my private practice. My specific areas of expertise and interest are set out below.

  • Diploma in integrative counselling.
  • Certificate in counselling skills.
  • BSc (Hons) sociology.
  • CPE and law finals.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
