Psychodynamic Counsellor

About me

I work using a psychodynamic approach to help you to gain a deep understanding of your current and past difficulties. Through this awareness, unhelpful patterns and painful feelings can be explored, worked through, and gradually transformed, leading to lasting emotional change.

Perhaps you are aware that your early life was difficult, or you have experienced a past trauma and would like to be supported in exploring the impact of your past on your present.

Or maybe you are here to think about current challenges in a relationship, within your family, or in your professional life. Or you have experienced a bereavement and are seeking a space in which to process this loss.

You might be experiencing symptoms such as depression or anxiety that you would like to explore in order to find understanding and relief.

Psychodynamic therapy is not a ‘quick fix’. But it can lead to a deep, lasting change in feelings, and a more fulfilling and happier life. I offer you an opportunity to slow down, pause and reflect, and to finally feel understood.

Please get in touch and I’ll respond to you to arrange a phone call. This will be an opportunity for me to explain how I work and to discuss availability.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am clinically qualified and experienced in working with adults of all ages. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework, meaning that I work professionally, safely and confidentially.

I have worked with adults in counselling & psychotherapy services & charities across Gloucestershire and London. I have experience of working with a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationship issues & divorce, bereavement & loss, work difficulties and low self esteem.

I trained in London (WPF Psychotherapy) and Gloucestershire (Gloucestershire Counselling Service). My rigorous training was accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).

Prior to training as a therapist, I worked with national parenting organisations such as Netmums supporting parents.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
