About me
You may have been finding life difficult for some time, or be struggling to cope with a particular situation. I offer a warm, confidential space where you can talk freely and openly, and begin to make sense of what you are experiencing.
I work in a gentle and curious way, taking time to explore what is troubling you. I work with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, and loss.
Psychodynamic counselling pays attention to how our past experiences and relationships can continue to shape how we experience ourselves and others in the present.
In our work together, we begin to notice patterns in thoughts, feelings, and relationships that may feel repeated, confusing, or hard to shift. This can include exploring what is difficult to put into words as well as what feels most present in your life now.
Over time, this way of working can bring a clearer sense of understanding and open up the possibility of relating to things differently.
I also have particular experience supporting people with family life and relationship difficulties, including separation, bereavement, parenting, and other significant changes within family life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a clinically qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor working with adults of all ages. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their ethical framework, ensuring a professional, safe and confidential practice.
I have worked in counselling and psychotherapy services and charities across Gloucestershire and London, supporting people with a range of emotional and relational difficulties, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues and divorce, bereavement and loss, work-related stress, and low self-esteem.
I trained in London (WPF Psychotherapy) and Gloucestershire (Gloucestershire Counselling Service), with training accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).
Before qualifying as a therapist, I worked with national parenting organisations, including Netmums, supporting parents with a range of family and parenting experiences.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
