About me

Hi, My name is Claire.

I qualified as a Relational therapist in 2008. I offer therapy to both Individuals and Couples. In our therapy together I will help you to move from surviving to thriving, from adapted self to authentic you, to move towards your potential and feel happier and more secure.

Our therapy together will be informed by -

  • relationships, relational patterns, communication, feeling seen
  • attachment patterns and how they play a part in our relationships all the way into adulthood
  • Transactional analysis and transactional versus relational communication
  • the adapted self and the authentic self/wise adult
  • the mind body connection, the vegus nerve, the central nervous system, our chemistry and intelligent biology which interplays with our emotions and physical world
  • breathwork, mindfulness, being in flow, yoga, belly breathing
  • our truth, reaching our potential
  • saying no, holding boundaries
  • gut instinct, intuition, trust
  • guilt, forgiveness, the language of apology
  • anger and letting it go
  • compassion and love
  • Shame and moving into the light

To give a flavour of my interests and influences which support my therapeutic approach, here's a few of the books on my bookcase at the moment:-

  • The Highly Sensitive Person - How to thrive when the world overwhelms you - Elaine N. Aron
  • When the Body says No - Dr Gabor Mate

I'm an experienced, enthusiastic and curious integrative therapist Accredited with BACP. I love to work with Individuals and Couples.  I help people coming to my practice in all kinds of ways and the language to describe peoples experiences usually falls into the following -  anxiety, stress, relationships, self esteem, confidence, depression, loss/bereavement, trauma - big and little 'T', work issues, loss of direction/purpose, sense of self, belonging, differences, finding tolerance/acceptance, anger and how to let it go, how to forgive and move forwards, feeling stuck, feeling lost, cultural challenges, life decisions, family dynamics, life dis-satisfaction and more.

Everyone is welcome.  Please feel free to get in touch and we can have a casual conversation to find out if I can offer you what you're looking for right now.    Or equally to help to point you in another direction.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
