About me

I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and accredited member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I offer counselling in Streatham and online. I am also a qualified supervisor, offering online individual and group supervision. With a decade of professional experience in both NHS and community counselling services as both a counsellor and counselling clinical lead, I can offer you counselling which feels safe, purposeful and sensitive to your individual needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working as a counsellor since 2014, qualifying in 2015 with a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I gained my British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accreditation, signifying significant post-qualification client experience, in 2018.

As a counsellor I have worked with many clients from a wide range of backgrounds with a equally wide range of problems and concerns. Over the years, I have developed a way of working which is genuinely non-judgemental and inclusive, offering a professional yet warm approach.

I have worked with clients over both short term and long-term contracts, from six weeks to several months and even years. I use evidence-based skills and approaches to actively support clients to make positive changes in their lives. Together, we create the space to help you better understand yourself and your needs, and how to meet them. You can read more about how I work here

As well as over ten years of counselling experience in both low-cost and NHS counselling services with a proven record of providing a high quality of therapy, I have over eight years of experience of clinical team management for Care To Listen, a busy London counselling agency, including five years as their Clinical Team Leader.

I am a qualified counselling supervisor (CPPD Diploma in Therapeutic Supervision, 2022) and recently gained an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice (Bath Spa, 2025, Distinction).

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

How I work

I believe that therapy should meet you where you are right now, whether you have had counselling support in the past or you are looking into it for the first time.

What might we look at?

I am able to help you explore what is going on at the moment or look back at what has happened in the past that you might still be carrying with you. This might be difficulties relating to your personal life, your family or friends, work, your sense of self now or in the past or a combination of any of these. Whether you are feeling low or anxious, scared, angry or confused – taking the brave step to come to counselling may well be what begins to help you feel that life is more manageable. For a list of the type of areas I work with, see above.

Using a tailored approach, unique to you

As your counsellor, I will tailor the way I work to best support you, based on what you want counselling to achieve. Usually this will involve using evidence-based skills and theory rooted in the combination of Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic approaches that best suits your individual needs.

Purposeful, relational and ethical

I will help us create a safe and collaborative space in which you are able to talk freely about what is distressing, preoccupying or concerning you. The expectation is that counselling should help, that looking together at what is going on will help you understand your situation, either now or in the past, better. For instance, we might explore your patterns of relationships in the past and then apply the insight we gain to your current relationship problems.

Talking issues through together can help you reframe how you see things. This can then lead to you making changes and moving forward in life more positively. As an accredited member of the BACP I work in line with their Ethical Framework [find out more here: https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/ ], respecting your autonomy as a client and maintaining safe and professional standards.

Working purposefully, relationally and ethically is at the heart of my practice and I invite you to get in touch for an initial session to see if my approach is one that might help you, where you are right now.

What happens next?

Once you have made contact with me, we can arrange a short telephone conversation to see if I am the right sort of counsellor for you and your current concerns and if my availability works for you. You can also ask any questions you might have at this stage.

After that we will arrange a first session and discuss in more detail what you would like counselling to focus on and explore how we might work together. I will be able to give you more information about how I work and answer any questions you might have and you will not be under any obligation to continue with sessions if you don’t want to.

If you do want to go ahead, you can decide to work in an open-ended way, with regular reviews, or you can choose to work over a shorter period of time if you prefer. All counselling sessions take place weekly, at the same time each week, for 50 minutes.
