About me
Hello, I’m Cheryl a Psychotherapist passionately supporting children, teens, parents, and adults through life’s most challenging moments.
I chose this path after witnessing the transformational power of therapy and how it can heal early trauma, ease emotional pain, and help people rediscover their confidence, clarity, and self-worth.
My style is warm, curious and non-judgmental. I offer a space where you can feel truly seen and heard, at your own pace and in your own way.
I work integratively, with a strong foundation in Transactional Analysis (TA) a powerful model that helps us understand how past experiences shape our relationships, emotions and self-perception. I also draw from CBT, Gestalt, somatic and creative therapies to support each client in a way that fits their unique story.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Psychotherapeutic Counselling, and I’m registered with both the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
My clinical training focused on Transactional Analysis (TA) as a core theoretical model, alongside integrative methods including CBT, Gestalt, and person-centred therapy.
I’ve worked in a variety of settings including,
- Schools and colleges, supporting children and teens.
- Charities and community services, offering low-cost counselling for adults & Children.
- Private practice, working with adults, parents and young people.
I have specialist training in:
- Child and adolescent Psychotherapy
- Creative approaches, including play therapy, sand-tray and psychodrama
- Working with trauma, including body-based and relational approaches
Supporting neurodivergent clients, including those exploring ADHD, autism, and sensory processing sensitivities
My work is attachment-informed, and I place strong emphasis on building a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship.
I attend regular supervision and ongoing CPD training to ensure my practice remains ethical, safe and effective.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I offer therapy both in-person from an accessible office in Stockton-on-Tees and online or by phone across the UK.
For younger clients, I use age-appropriate, creative approaches including sand-tray, play therapy, and storytelling to help children safely explore their emotions and experiences.
I also work with adults and parents, supporting you through anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, grief, and life transitions. Parent support sessions provide a space to reflect on family dynamics and communication.
Each session is structured to suit your individual needs and preferences. We usually start by checking in on how you’re feeling and what’s most important to focus on that day. Depending on your goals, we may set or review them together, but I always adapt the pace and style to what feels right for you.
I understand that reaching out for therapy especially for the first time can feel daunting. I aim to offer a calm, respectful space where you can feel safe to be yourself, without pressure or judgment.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes, just having a space to talk and reflect can make a meaningful difference.
