About me
Perhaps you’ve been feeling that you’re not quite yourself lately…
Maybe life has become difficult to manage, you’re carrying something that feels too heavy to hold alone, or you simply don’t understand why you’re feeling the way you do.
Perhaps you’re grieving someone you love, adjusting to becoming a parent, struggling with your sense of identity, experiencing anxiety or low mood, or trying to make sense of something that has happened in your life.
Or perhaps there isn’t one particular thing you can put your finger on. You just know that things feel different, and you’d like somewhere safe to talk.
I’m Cheryl, a qualified counsellor with an MA in Counselling & Psychotherapy and a BACP-registered practitioner. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can be yourself without having to pretend that everything is okay.
I believe counselling is not about telling you what to do or trying to “fix” you. It’s about creating a relationship where you feel genuinely heard and understood, and where together we can gently explore what is going on beneath the surface.
My work is particularly informed by an interest in relationships, attachment and the experiences that shape who we become. I have a special interest in bereavement and loss, including pet bereavement, perinatal mental health and the huge emotional changes that can come with becoming a parent.
I’m also fascinated by our relationship with technology and our phones, and the way they can become woven into our relationships, our sense of self and our everyday emotional lives. For some of us, our phones can be a source of comfort, connection and reassurance, while at other times they can leave us feeling distracted, overwhelmed or disconnected from the people around us.
I know that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting. You may be wondering whether your problems are “bad enough”, whether someone will understand, or even what you would say when you sit down for the first time.
You don’t need to know exactly what you need from counselling. You don’t need to have the right words. You just need to take that first step.
If something in this profile has resonated with you, please get in touch. I’d be very happy to hear from you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
