About me

Hi, I’m Charlie, a BACP-registered counsellor based in Hampshire.

People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes there is something specific they want support with, such as anxiety, low mood, stress, relationships or self-esteem. At other times, it can be harder to put a finger on what is wrong.

Whatever brings you to counselling, I believe having a space where you can talk openly at your own pace and feel genuinely heard can make a real difference.

I work with adults and young people aged 16+, and have particular experience and interest in working with neurodivergence and young people. My previous experience working within SEN Support helped develop my passion for supporting young people and neurodivergent individuals, and continues to influence the way I work as a counsellor.

My approach is warm, accepting and collaborative. I don’t believe that there is one way of doing counselling that works for everybody. Our sessions are led by you and shaped around what you need. Whether you need a space to talk and be heard, to explore something more deeply, to understand patterns in your life or to find different ways of looking at what you are experiencing, this space is made to fit your goals for counselling.

My core training is Humanistic and rooted within Transactional Analysis but I tend to work with an integrative approach that allows my sessions to be more personalised to you. These theories can help us become curious about how our experiences and relationships have shaped the way we think, feel and relate to ourselves and others, ultimately allowing you to understand yourself a little better.

I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role isn’t to tell you what you should do or who you should be, but to work alongside you, offering another perspective and helping you explore things with curiosity, compassion and without judgement.

I aim to create a space where you can be yourself. There is no expectation to have the right words, know exactly what you want from counselling, or arrive with everything figured out. We can work that out together, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I offer counselling in person in Winchester, online and by telephone, giving you the flexibility to choose the way of working that suits you best.

Finding the right counsellor is important, which is why I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation. It gives us an opportunity to meet, talk a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions you might have, and get a sense of whether we might be a good fit before deciding whether you would like to continue.

If counselling with me sounds like something you would be interested in, please feel free to contact me via email, text or phone call. I’d love to here from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training is rooted in Humanistic Counselling and Transactional Analysis (TA), while my wider training and experience allow me to work flexibly according to each individual and what they bring to counselling.

Alongside my counselling training, I have experience working within a SEN school, supporting children and young people with a range of individual needs. This experience has been particularly valuable in developing my understanding of neurodivergence and my passion for working therapeutically with young people.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework. I am also committed to ongoing supervision, professional development and continuing to develop my knowledge and practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
