About me

Hi, I’m Chad. I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, offering therapy to adults, young people aged over 16 and couples.

Firstly, thank you for being courageous and taking the first step towards finding help, which I know can feel quite scary. I'm a deeply caring and understanding person, firmly believing that we may all need some help at times in our lives and that this can feel daunting. Being heard and understood with no judgement enables and empowers my clients to experience and build their lives as they truly want them.

I’m an easy person to relate to, with a warm and gentle approach, whilst always being genuine and able to connect quickly with my clients. We can explore together at a pace that works for you, holding a deep interest in your life, your struggles and experiences. Through insightful reflection, we can work together to understand these more and shed some light on how they show themselves in your life, your physical body responses and your relationship dynamics.

Sometimes this may feel challenging and painful, yet this is where true personal growth or change often happens. I offer a safe and confidential space where you will be truly heard. I will always be honest and compassionate, believing that we are all unique in our own way.

I am trained in using an integrative approach, meaning that I draw from a range of therapeutic disciplines, using various techniques to best suit your needs, incorporating all approaches at times as we work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer face-to-face, online (via Zoom video platform) and telephone sessions.

My dedicated private therapy studio is based on the outskirts of Northampton and provides a safe, warm, welcoming and calming space for you. It is somewhere that you can freely explore in a way that feels right for you.

I also work from a private therapy practice in Olney, Buckinghamshire, again offering a warm, welcoming, calm and safe space.

Both practices are within walking distance of various bus routes and have free of charge private/public parking.

Our First Session - 30 Minute Free of Charge Telephone Consultation

Finding the right therapist is deeply personal and can feel daunting. It is essential to connect and to be able to gain a sense of someone when reaching out for help at the start of your therapeutic journey. I choose to offer a free of charge 30-minute initial chat because I believe it's critical for you to feel comfortable and gain a sense of who I am and how I work before making any further commitment.

This discussion allows us both to determine if we are a good fit, gives you a chance to see if you feel I am the right person for you to work with and that I can help you with your specific needs. I believe our therapeutic relationship is the ‘heartbeat’ of our time together, building a safe and trusting partnership.

This session will give us time to get to know each other a little more and for me to understand what brings you to therapy. I will ask you about your background, what you would like to get from our sessions together and if you have any specific aims from our time together. This gives you an opportunity to ask me any questions, for me to talk about my therapeutic approach so that you do not get any surprises and you are able to gain a true sense of what our sessions will feel like.

If you decide you would like to work with me then subsequent sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration and the frequency of these sessions can be discussed when we speak. Everybody is different, with some people preferring a set number of sessions and others preferring to work open ended - we can review this on an ongoing basis together.

We will also agree on a therapeutic agreement/contract together.
