About me

It can often feel that life is out of control, that we're trapped or stuck in a certain situation. Lying in bed at night not being able to sleep because your mind is over thinking, worries won't leave you in peace. Stuck repeating the same patterns of behaviour and wanting things to be different but not knowing how to go about changing it.

I can help.  I'm Kate, a psychotherapeutic Counsellor and I have a particular interest and experience of working with women who feel anxious, overwhelmed, low in mood or have experienced trauma.

I can support you using over 9 years worth of counselling experience gained from working with women dealing with issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault, infertility, menopause, childhood abuse and many other issues.

If you work with me you will be provided a safe and comfortable space in which you can be listened to and supported so that you can work through your issues and feel more at peace.

Together we can explore strategies to enable you to feel less overwhelmed and anxious and deal with the events of the past.
By working with me you will be given an opportunity to address long standing pain (however it presents) which will allow you to embrace change and create a positive future.

You can have a choice of working in my office or outdoors; where you can experience Nature also holding you in your healing.  My office is discretely located in South Shields town centre, within walking distance to parks and the coast.

You have the choice of short term counselling if you have a specific issue you would like to focus on or a decision to make, or longer term counselling for a more reflective approach. We can discuss which is the most appropriate length of counselling for you.

If you would like to get in contact I offer a free telephone consultation during which we can discuss your reason for wanting counselling and it gives you an opportunity to see if you feel comfortable with me.

Due to the Covid-19 situation I am offering all appointments online.

If you have any questions or to find out more, please get in touch.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
