About me

Hello, I'm Catherine, a BACP accredited counsellor with 15 years experience.

I welcome you to my practice if you are feeling lost, confused, hurt, lonely, angry, frustrated, or simply need to talk things through with an unbiased third party. I value being able to offer my clients the support and care they deserve in order to dismantle feelings of shame, anxiety and depression, using an affirmative, non-judgemental and inclusive approach.

At the heart of my therapy is the belief that when my clients feel heard, validated, and cared for, the potential for healing is greater. It is therefore my responsibility to create a space for you that feels safe and empowering.

I will work alongside you to explore and reflect upon the challenges you are facing to find clarity and self-understanding.

I have specialist training in Trauma, and Neurodiversity, and offer support to parents and carers of Neurodiverse children, having lived experience of the challenges of parenting an AuDHD child.

If you would like to book in for an initial session, or if you have any questions, please do call or email me. I look forward to welcoming you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from City Lit Institute in London, and I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, which means that I subscribe to and adhere to their code of ethics.

I hold a Diploma in Trauma Therapy, Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, and a Diploma in Autism and Mental Health. I have also undertaken specialist training in bereavement and loss, and continue to develop my skills through continuing professional development as part of the BACP code of ethics. I have a personal and professional interest in Neurodiversity and am a carer to my eldest son, who has Autism.

I have provided therapy to clients with a wide range of issues over the past 14 years at a private counselling centre in central London, as well as delivering short-term therapy to patients within a GP Surgery. I have also worked within a local hospital, providing therapy to NHS staff and in several secondary schools, counselling both staff and students.

My volunteer experience also includes work at a charity for survivors of sexual and domestic violence, and as a carer at an orphanage and in the slums of Kampala, Uganda. I have also successfully completed training with a charity providing therapeutic work in primary schools.

Prior to my counselling career, I worked for over 10 years within the arts and media in London and hold a BA Honours degree in English and Cultural Studies.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
