About us

Hello, we're Michele and Jane, experienced, qualified counsellors and registered members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), dedicated to providing compassionate, ethical and professional support for children, young people, adults, couples and families.

We know that reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, ADHD, grief, or the impact of trauma, taking that first step can feel daunting. If you're here, you've already taken an important step.

At Castle Counselling Service, we offer a warm, compassionate and confidential space where you can talk openly without fear of judgement. We believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood and supported, whatever they are facing.

Together, we work with children, teenagers, adults, parents and couples, helping people navigate life's challenges, make sense of difficult emotions, and develop healthier ways of coping. Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your child, your relationship or your family, we'll work alongside you at a pace that feels right for you.

How We Can Help
We support clients with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including:

Anxiety, stress and panic
Depression and low mood
ADHD and neurodiversity
Anger and emotional regulation
Relationship and couples difficulties
Parenting and family challenges
Bereavement and loss
Trauma and difficult life experiences
Self-esteem and confidence
Life transitions and feeling overwhelmed
Whatever has brought you to counselling, you don't have to face it alone.

Our Approach
Every person is unique, so therapy should be too.

Our approach is primarily person-centred, placing your experiences, goals and wellbeing at the heart of every session, while drawing on other evidence-based therapeutic approaches when appropriate. This means your counselling is tailored to you, your circumstances and your goals.

Together, we'll help you:

Understand and manage difficult thoughts and emotions
Build resilience and healthy coping strategies
Improve communication and relationships
Strengthen confidence and self-esteem
Create meaningful, lasting change

We offer face-to-face counselling from our welcoming practice in Earls Colne, conveniently located for clients across Colchester, Halstead, Braintree and the surrounding areas, as well as secure online counselling for clients throughout the UK and Europe.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
