About me

Not sure where to start? You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

If you’re feeling anxious, burnt out, low on self-worth or weighed down by the past, it makes total sense that life feels hard right now. Maybe your thoughts won’t switch off, or you’re going through something big - like a traumatic experience, relationship breakdown, or just feeling completely stuck. Whatever’s brought you here, chances are you’re hoping for something to shift, even just a little.

I’m Carys - a down-to-earth, straight-talking, warm, and compassionate therapist. I work with adults of all genders, offering space to make sense of what you’re carrying and find a bit more ease in your everyday life. My work often focuses on anxiety, self-worth, and the impact of relational trauma. I’ve supported people through things like abuse (emotional, physical, sexual, coercive control), sexual violence, infidelity, perfectionism, identity struggles, ADHD, burnout, and tough childhood experiences.

What to Expect

A real, human relationship
Therapy with me is collaborative and down-to-earth. That means we work together, at your pace. Nothing’s too messy, too much, or too trivial to bring. You’ll get empathy, honesty, and the occasional gentle challenge to help shift what’s keeping you stuck.

An approach that fits you
I use integrative therapy grounded in person-centred values - so you’re always the expert on your own life. I bring in ideas from narrative therapy, existential thinking, and solution-focused approaches to help you feel more connected to yourself and your direction.

My Background
Before becoming a full-time in private practitioner, I counselled in a specialist sexual violence service and with survivors of domestic abuse and childhood trauma. I’ve also provided outreach in inclusive sexual health settings with young people, LGBTQ+ communities, and people involved in sex work. These experiences shaped my commitment to inclusive, stigma-free care.

Outside the therapy room, I train organisations in workplace mental health and wellbeing. When I’m not working, I’m usually out in the fresh air with a coffee in hand, befriending every dog (and occasional donkey) I pass. I find calm in conversation, nature and small everyday joys.

Want to explore working together?
Finding the right therapist is a really personal choice. I offer a free 15–20 minute intro call so you can get a feel for how I work and share a bit about what’s going on for you. No pressure to commit - just drop me an email and we’ll find a time that feels right.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
