About me

In my private practice I specialise in working with adults who work in education, as well as supporting people through career dilemmas, life transitions and the menopause. I can also supervise counsellors working with children and young people.

I gained my postgraduate diploma in the humanist existential approach, which means that I support your journey to find positive meaning and purpose in your life. I can help if you are struggling with a crisis of identity or purpose that leaves you feeling isolated, down or anxious. I am trained to work with a trauma informed approach if traumatic experiences are part of your life story.

I work in a person centred way, providing a reflective space to guide and support you. Together we will look with fresh eyes at your life. We might reflect on how different aspects of your identity have impacted your life experiences. Your unique self will be the centre of our attention for the time we are together.

I can also draw on different counselling approaches to help us understand the core of an issue more quickly. I can work creatively, or offer single session therapy if you have a specific goal to work on. If you are anxious about what to talk about, you are welcome to bring along a photograph, a letter or something else to help me understand your difficulties. I hope you will soon feel comfortable and relaxed talking with me. We will discuss a contract and confidentiality when you get in touch.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, the BACP (membership number 604223, register number 108475).

Training, qualifications & experience

As well as running my private practice, I currently work as a therapist in an alternative provision school, and as a consultant for a national Multi Academy Trust offering reflective spaces for senior school leaders.

Over the years, after re-training from a career in international development, and gaining my Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, I have completed a variety of additional courses and CPD to increase my skills and meet the needs of my clients. For example, I took a certificate in working with adolescents, another in person centred art therapy, and worked hard to become a trauma informed practitioner to support my clients with PTSD. I also hold a certificate in working online. While I continue to learn, and especially from my clients, I hope I am well equipped to draw on my broad 'toolkit' of approaches, and to build strong and safe relationships with my diverse and unique clients!

I aim to be a very focused and attentive listener, and to work professionally with whatever you bring.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Key details

DBS check info

In England and Wales, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS, formerly known as CRB) carry out criminal records checks for individuals working with vulnerable groups, such as children. To find out more, visit gov.uk , or contact this professional directly

Wheelchair user access info
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Therapy rooms and toilets are on the ground floor, with a small step to get into the building. The toilet at my Wembley address is on the ground floor, but unfortunately is not a specially widened wheelchair accessible space.
