About me

I am a BACP registered counsellor with an advanced Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling (level 6) and this level of training means I am equipped to help you work at depth with difficulties such as repeating emotional and relational patterns, persistent life challenges and trauma.

I wonder what's making life difficult for you at the moment. Are you experiencing physical symptoms alongside emotional struggles - feeling overwhelmed, fatigued, hopeless, angry or confused? Maybe you’re waking up at 3am replaying conversations or feeling weighed down by worries about the day ahead.  Personal or work relationships may be a source of stress for you, or a recent life event or diagnosis has left you feeling deeply impacted.

Perhaps you are looking for help but aren't sure how counselling can help - that's okay too.  If any of this resonates with you, please know that your feelings are valid and deserve attention.

You will find me warm, welcoming and active as a counsellor. I see my role as a facilitator and this means I will work with you and at your pace, to help you explore and make sense of your experiences. This may involve slowing things down, gentle challenge, psychoeducation and new perspectives where it might be useful. Through curiosity and compassion, I will support you in building a greater awareness and understanding of the link between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Where it may be beneficial, we will create a toolkit you can draw on in your daily life.

As an integrative counsellor, my approach draws from different therapeutic modalities to ensure sessions are attuned to you and your individual needs. This simply means I will tailor my approach to suit you and what you would like to get from our time together. For example, you may wish to explore childhood and past experiences that may be impacting you now. However we choose to work together, I value and am interested in everything you wish to bring. In my professional experience, regular counselling sessions provide the foundation for greater self-awareness, reflection and change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
