About me

Hi, I’m Bryony, and I’m a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor. Chances are you’ve read that a lot today! There are a lot of people to choose from, and a lot of technical terms. At the end of the day, you’re looking for someone to help you feel better.

So, let’s keep it simple.

I’m here to help you. I’m warm and non-judgemental, and I have experience working with lots of different people. Maybe you want help with something specific, like anxiety, depression, bereavement, or trauma. Or maybe you want to talk about something more general, like stress, relationships, or things not feeling right. I have helped people through all of these, and will support you in the direction you want to go.

In our sessions, the pace and content will be guided by you. Research shows that having a good counselling relationship is really important, and I take that seriously. I want you to feel you can be as open as you want to be.

If you’d like to find out more and get a feel for working together, I offer a free introductory call. You can get in touch by email or phone, and I’ll be happy to hear from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training:

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor with a degree in Integrative Counselling (BSc Hons). Being an integrative counsellor means that I draw on different ideas about what works in counselling. The most important thing is having a counselling relationship where you feel you can be yourself, even the parts you might not tell other people about.

I am also a Member of the BACP.

My qualifications include:

  • BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling
  • Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling
  • Certificate in Counselling

I am also DBS-checked.

Experience:

As part of my training, I volunteered as a counsellor for a number of organisations, including St Elizabeth Hospice, The Sue Lambert Trust and CARA. During that time, I worked with clients on all sorts of issues, including grief, relationship problems, depression, anxiety, child sexual abuse, sexual violence and trauma. I find that everybody is different, and this list only gives a very general sense of the complexities of what people bring.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
