About me

My name is Broes (pronounced Bruce) Van Renterghem, and I offer psychotherapy and counselling in my practices in Shoreditch, London Bridge, Clapham Common, and online. Some of the key areas I can help with are anxiety, depression, gender identification, sexual orientation-related issues, addiction, shame, relationships, self-esteem, and more.

What sets me apart is the way I combine relational depth with a practical, down-to-earth approach. I don’t just focus on symptoms, but help you uncover the patterns and experiences shaping your life, so that change becomes possible. My professional expertise and lived experience fosters a therapeutic space where we can meet on a deeply personal level. Whether online or in person, my aim is to help you feel truly seen, understood, and empowered to move forward.

I am also a member of Pink Therapy and part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and have a Postgraduate Diploma (level 7) in Integrative Psychotherapy from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, a renowned learning body for Integrative Psychotherapy, affiliated with Staffordshire University. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which is an accrediting body for professional standards in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I am continuously furthering my knowledge in the field of psychotherapy and alongside Continuing Professional Development (CPD) consisting of Short- and mid-term Training, I am currently finalising an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy which is due to finish July 2026. During this MSc, I am working towards full United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) accreditation and therefore I am currently a UKCP Trainee Therapist. I expect to receive UKCP accreditation by by September 2026. UKCP is another UK-wide recognised accrediting body.

Besides my Private Practice, my therapeutic experience includes working as a placement psychotherapist at Choose Therapy, The Body and Mind Centre, and The Balham Community Counselling Centre.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
