About me

As an accredited EMDR practitioner and BACP registered counsellor I support adults, young people and children with a range of issues such as trauma (PTSD), anxiety, bereavement and other difficulties including phobias . It can be hard to make the first step of asking for professional help and share your challenges. I have a compassionate and client-centred approach and want to work with you to improve your well-being. I offer online therapy or you can see me in person near North Walsham. I offer EMDR and counselling, and can work with children, young people and adults, including those with learning difficulties or who are neurodivergent, e.g. who are autistic or have ADHD.

EMDR is traditionally offered for PTSD, but can also be very effective with anxiety, bereavement, baby and pregnancy loss, and other issues. I provide EMDR in the traditional way, as well as using the outdoors, (walking EMDR), and creative approaches. Similarly, I offer counselling both indoors and outdoors (in North Walsham), as well as creative approaches and sandtray. Working online can also create many opportunities, making therapy much more accessible and many adults and young people prefer accessing support from their own home. It also makes it easier for young people who study at university and are home during holidays.

I find that most clients welcome an initial meeting, whether this is a phone call or an online meeting. We can talk about your needs and what your goals are for therapy. If you are seeking EMDR therapy, I am very happy to tell you a bit more about EMDR as well and how this can really help with traumatic experiences as well as anxiety and other issues.

Training, qualifications & experience

I bring over twenty-five years’ experience supporting children, young people and adults through trauma, loss and emotional distress. My background is rooted in social pedagogy, an approach that combines care, education and wellbeing, focusing on relationships, strengths and the whole person - values that continue to shape my therapeutic work today.

Since 2017, I have worked independently as an EMDR therapist and psychotherapeutic counsellor, supporting people experiencing post-traumatic stress, bereavement and the impact of overwhelming or difficult life events.

I am an accredited EMDR Practitioner with the UK & Europe EMDR Association and have completed specialist child and adolescent EMDR training. My qualifications include a Doctorate in Education, an MA in Advanced Social Work, a Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Teenagers, and a Diploma in Trauma and Mental Health Informed Schools and Communities.

Alongside my therapeutic work, I have extensive experience training and supporting professionals in education. I provide training on trauma, bereavement, mental health, emotion coaching and emotionally based school avoidance.

Giving me a deep understanding of how people grow and heal has shaped the way I work every day. It enables me to offer thoughtful, evidence‑based support that is responsive to the needs of children, teenagers and adults at different stages of their lives.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
