About me
Hi, I’m Berta, a BACP registered psychotherapist offering in person therapy in Poulton-le-Fylde and online across the UK. I work with people who are struggling to connect and feel alone despite being surrounded by others, people oppressed by societal expectations, workplace environments, romantic relationships, or internal pressures, and are tired of living in ways that don’t feel true to who they are.
I am a neuro-affirming practitioner and welcome neurodivergent clients, offering a therapeutic space that recognises and respects differences in how people think, feel, communicate and experience the world.
Whether you’re struggling with identity, gender roles, low self-worth, or feeling silenced, constrained or disconnected in your relationships, I can offer a space to reconnect with yourself, find your voice, and move towards a more authentic way of living.
You might be struggling with:
- Anxiety and overthinking
- Low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and self-doubt
- Body image concerns and comparison culture
- Depression and burnout
- Relationship, marriage, dating difficulties or affairs
- Identity questions
- Ageing
- Cultural, intergenerational, or immigration issues
- Experiences of sexism, racism, homophobia, or other forms of discrimination
- Feeling "too much" or "not enough"
- Addiction
If you’re exhausted from trying to keep up or prove your worth, therapy can be a space where you no longer have to perform. I offer a compassionate, confidential and empowering space where you can explore who you are beneath it all.
Training, qualifications & experience
As a Relational Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw from evidence-based approaches including Person-centred therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Somatic approaches. This allows me to tailor therapy to you as a whole person, rather than focusing only on symptoms or labels.
The therapeutic relationship is central to my work. I believe change happens in safe, respectful and genuine connection. Therapy is collaborative, we explore together.
I take an active and supportive role in helping you:
• Challenge internalised shame and self-criticism
• Explore how social and cultural pressures have shaped your self-image
• Build self-worth that isn’t dependent on achievement or appearance
• Develop healthier relationship patterns
• Set boundaries without overwhelming guilt
• Feel empowered to express yourself
• Manage anxiety and emotional overwhelm
• Heal relational trauma
Many people today experience social media comparison and unrealistic beauty standards, pressure to achieve academically or professionally, cultural or intergenerational expectations, fear of rejection for being different, workplace stress and burnout, relationship struggles, loneliness despite being constantly connected. If you feel like you’re constantly performing a version of yourself, therapy can help you reconnect with who you really are.
As a neuro-affirming practitioner, I work collaboratively with neurodivergent clients, valuing individual differences and adapting therapy to honour each person's unique way of experiencing and engaging with the world.
I have a particular interest in supporting people navigating low confidence and feeling not good enough, body image, exploring identity and belonging, those affected by racism, cultural marginalisation, immigration, as well as individuals recovering from toxic or emotionally unavailable relationships, people who appear “high-functioning” but feel anxious or empty inside.
I hold an MA in Integrative Counselling from Leeds Beckett University and attend regular supervision in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. I engage in ongoing professional development and hold full professional indemnity insurance. I offer therapy in both English and Lithuanian.
Before I started my private practice, I worked as a Lead Psychotherapist in a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre and have extensive experience supporting individuals with complex mental health needs, trauma and substance use difficulties.
My practice is grounded in values of equality, inclusion and social justice. Mental health does not exist in isolation. Many struggles are shaped by the systems we live within, including sexism, racism, homophobia, classism and unrealistic societal standards.
Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you. It is about understanding what you have been navigating and supporting you to reclaim your voice, boundaries and sense of self.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
