About me

A little bit about me: My name is Bareha, or B as most call me. I am a woman, a wife, a dedicated psychotherapist, lover of books and coffee, pet owner, reality tv enthusiast, amateur true crime detective and so much more.

Every individual has their own identity, story and experiences that shape them. As your therapist, my role is to walk alongside you, providing guidance and support as together we navigate life's challenges. I believe therapy is a collaborative process and that you are the expert of your life. But, together, we will explore the complexities of your emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, helping you gain insight and clarity, whatever the roadblock is.

I have experience in many areas but the ones I have expanded my knowledge on include anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, miscarriage/infertility, family dynamics, relationships, religious identity, and religious trauma.

Having previously struggled with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and concerns within my family dynamic, I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to overcome this. Alongside a mixture of exploration, processing and reflecting we will come up with a treatment plan that works best for you and your current environment that helps you to manage your surroundings while conquering those tough feelings.

I am a Pakistani Muslim woman and understand the complexities of being a woman of colour in a challenging world where different cultures and religions are not readily accepted. In addition to this, I understand the challenges of navigating where you belong within your culture/religion, as well how familial dynamics can affect this.

I have spent part of my professional career working with adolescents and teenagers through individual therapy as well as through the youth justice system, both in America and the UK. Being a young person is complex enough in this world and our young people deserve support along the way.

I hope to support you on your road to clarity in whichever way possible.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
