About me

Hello, my name is Ashling. I am a psychotherapist registered with the BACP.

I am warm, down-to-earth and passionate about helping people overcome the challenges they have experienced or are experiencing in their lives. I have worked with people dealing with anxiety, depression, disordered eating, relationship/family issues, workplace issues, grief and low self-esteem. However, I am interested in working with the person rather than the 'issue' and have the skills to work with a variety of different people from different backgrounds.

I work integratively, which basically means that I may use different approaches and techniques to support you as a unique individual. We may work on exploring and integrating all the different parts of you. This helps to build awareness, compassion and acceptance to develop a stronger sense of self. Working with me, you will get a genuine and and honest therapist who works with integrity and compassion.

What to expect working with me? Firstly, via email, we will arrange an initial 20-minute consultation. At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions about the way I work and I will find out a little about you and how therapy can help you at this time. Then we can arrange a regular time and day for our sessions going forward, which can be weekly or bi-weekly.

Starting therapy can bring up mixed feelings and emotions. My aim is to make your first session feel as comfortable as possible, where the session will go at your pace. The first session is a great opportunity to talk about what's brought you to therapy, whilst also getting comfortable talking to a new therapist.

The sessions will be focused on you, but I also bring myself to the session, so that the experience is real and genuine and collaborative.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
