About me

I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council and am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society.

As a Counselling Psychologist, I am integrative in my therapeutic practice, drawing on a range of therapeutic models to best meet your individual needs. The core models that I draw upon are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Trauma-informed CBT; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); and Psychodynamic therapy. I work with adults, children (aged 9+) and young people. I currently offer face to face appointments out of the Jesmond Therapy Centre. I can also offer remote sessions via telephone or video. I currently work on Mondays and Tuesdays (Tues appointments are term time only).

I have a wealth of experience of working with a range of different mental health difficulties within private and NHS settings.

At the core of my practice is the therapeutic relationship. I shall offer you a compassionate and empowering relationship in which I endeavour that you feel safe, listened too and supported. Our therapeutic relationship is collaborative. We shall work together to develop a shared understanding of the difficulties you are experiencing and in turn, identify your therapeutic goals to achieve a value-led life and ultimately enhance your psychological health and wellbeing.

I have a keen interest in ecopsychology and value the benefits of nature to enhance psychological health and wellbeing. As such, I also offer walking and talking therapeutic sessions in the leafy green surroundings of the Jesmond Therapy Centre.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
