About me

I am an EMDR and BACP Accredited therapist working with young people and adults and have special interests in working with trauma and also with neurodivergence.

I am a Certified Cyber Therapist and provide therapy online through Zoom, FaceTime and Teams.

Training, qualifications & experience

I've been a therapist for 17 years and have worked in a variety of settings.

I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergence (Autism and ADHD).

I work with Children’s Social Care and the NHS to provide therapy to Adopted Children and Looked After Children in Foster Care . My work with Adopted Children is funded by the Adoption Support Fund. I have completed further specialist training in using EMDR with children and young people.

I specialise in working with trauma and in my EMDR practice I’ve worked with clients who serve in the military, police, fire service and ambulance service. EMDR is particularly helpful in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD and Complex PTSD. I am an EMDR Consultant in training.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful therapy designed to help people recover from traumatic events in their lives. EMDR is recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

I am a consultant, lead associate supervisor and facilitator for Leeds Beckett University’s Carnegie School of Education and provide group supervision to headteachers of special schools. In my private practice I have provided supervision to EMDR therapists, counsellors, psychotherapists, senior leadership teams in schools and also to mental health practitioners at a university.

As a facilitator at Leeds Beckett University’s Carnegie School of Education, I facilitate online workshops on reflective supervision and peer to peer supervision.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
