Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapist and Mental Health Nurse

About me

I recognise that seeking out therapy isn't always easy, it can come with a sense of uncertainty, fear and doubt.

I aim to provide a supportive, non judgemental, curious space that I hope you will feel safe enough to explore whatever it is that brings you to see me.

I regularly work with people that are looking to develop a stronger sense of themselves, struggle with self critical thoughts and intense emotions.

Some people seek therapy as a tool for personal development, others because there is a particular issue or event that they wish to work through. Whatever the reason, I want to work in a way that is collaborative and becomes a process that we build together.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience

I have been working as a therapist for over ten years; prior to this, I worked as a mental health nurse.

I have over 20 years of experience of working in the NHS with people with severe and enduring mental health problems, more recently specialising in working with people with relational difficulties and emotional dysregulation or personality difficulties/disorder.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

ACAT
The Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT)

The Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT) is a registered charity. They welcome members of the public, health professionals, ACAT accredited professionals, and anyone interested in finding out more about CAT. They list CAT practitioners.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Along with some Psychotherapist colleagues, I am looking to set up some groups. This is likely to be in the early 2027.

We are looking for expressions of interest for this, currently we are thinking that we would like to run short term (12 weeks) Emotional/Relational Skills group. If this is something you might be interested in, please get in touch.
