About us

Hi, I’m Anika, an MBACP Registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist based in Derby, offering warm, supportive and non-judgemental therapy for adults, both in person and online.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low or stuck, or finding life difficult to navigate. Perhaps you’re struggling with your confidence, relationships, work or adjusting to a significant life change. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out for support.

I offer a safe and compassionate space to make sense of your thoughts and feelings, explore what may be keeping you stuck and work towards meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

I work integratively, drawing on person-centred, CBT and attachment-based approaches. This means I tailor therapy to you and your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

I particularly enjoy supporting university students and trainee counsellors, who may be navigating the pressures of study, placements, personal development, relationships and future career decisions. I offer concessionary rates for students and trainees.

I currently offer sessions Tuesday to Thursday, 9am-4pm, with a free 15-minute introductory call available if you’d like to find out more before making a decision.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an MBACP Registered Counsellor & Psychotherapist with over six years’ experience of working with adults and young people across education, charity, healthcare and community settings.

I hold an MSc in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP accredited) and a BA (Hons) in Child & Youth Studies from the University of Derby.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on person-centred counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and attachment-based approaches. I also draw on compassion-focused principles where appropriate, tailoring the way I work to each individual client.

Throughout my career, I have supported people experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, life transitions and other challenges affecting their emotional wellbeing.

I have particular experience and interest in working with university students and trainee counsellors, and have worked within counselling education and supported individuals navigating study, placements, personal development and the transition into professional practice.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
