About me

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), offering face-to-face counselling in Stockport and online sessions across the UK.

I provide a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life. I work with adults and young people aged 16+ and support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, stress, self-harm and eating-related difficulties.

I believe counselling should be shaped around you as an individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. We can work together at a pace that feels right for you, exploring the experiences, patterns and difficulties that may be affecting you now.

I have a particular interest in trauma and addiction and also have experience supporting people with complex life circumstances, including veterans and people affected by homelessness.

I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation so you can ask questions and get a sense of whether you would feel comfortable working with me. There is no obligation to book afterwards.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Foundation Degree in Arts in Counselling Studies, awarded with Merit by Liverpool John Moores University. I am a qualified integrative counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

I work with adults and young people aged 16+ and have experience supporting people with a wide range of difficulties, including trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, stress, self-harm and eating-related issues.

My professional experience includes working with people affected by substance use and recovery, homelessness, complex life circumstances and trauma. I have also worked in support roles with veterans and have experience of working alongside people from a range of backgrounds and with differing support needs.

My approach is integrative, which means I adapt the way I work to the individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. I place importance on building a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship and working at a pace that feels right for each client.

My practice is supported by regular clinical supervision and ongoing continuing professional development. I have also completed additional training in areas including play-based approaches and sandplay, which has helped broaden the way I think about creative and non-verbal ways of working in therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
