About me
I’m a HCPC-registered Chartered Counselling Psychologist & EMDR therapist providing talking therapy for adults. I specialise in helping people who have had traumatic experiences, but I can also help with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, perinatal mental health (during pregnancy and the postnatal period), and neurodivergences such as ADHD and ASD. My approach is neuro-affirmative as I understand the wide diversity of ways that the brain is made up and ways people interact.
I provide a safe, confidential space and help you to make sense of your experiences, identify repeating patterns, and find workable, sustainable ways to move forward. My aim is to help you create meaningful change in your life.
My Therapeutic Approach
As a psychologist, I have been trained to do more than just listen. My aim is to help you get to the root of your difficulties and work actively to support you to create lasting change.
I naturally adopt a relational, compassionate approach, integrating the ideas of evidence-based therapies, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR), along with attachment research. This variety of approaches at my fingertips allows me to work creatively and flexibly, weaving together the best fit for each individual. We will work in a transparent and collaborative way so that you feel in control of the process and your progress.
The therapeutic relationship is central to my practice. In counselling psychology, there is an emphasis on personal therapy as well as supervision throughout the therapist’s career so that I can sit along side you with compassion and humanness. This also enables me to remain solid, emotionally present, non-judgemental, and attuned no matter what emerges in the therapeutic work.
So I want you to also know, that like you, I’m human, and I’ve sat on both sides of the couch.

Experience
Before moving into independent practice last year, I spent 8 years of my qualified career working in NHS adult community mental health teams, specialising in working with people who have had painful and traumatic experiences. This sometimes manifested as PTSD or Complex PTSD, but also as depression, anxiety, eating issues, phobias, and relationship difficulties with partners, parents, and children.
More recently, I have seen an increased number of people seeking support for neurodivergence; wanting to understand themselves better and find ways to address the challenges they face. I have undertaken specialist training in working clinically with neurodivergence and I have found that clients find my approach extremely validating.
My other special interest is helping women through pregnancy and the postnatal period. I'm also a mum of two myself, riding the parenting rollercoaster of this sometimes joyful, sometimes difficult and complex period of life. Parents often find it comforting that I have some lived insight into the difficulties they are facing.
Why choose a Counselling Psychologist?
Private therapy is an investment of your time and finances so you need to be sure you are working with a suitably qualified clinician.
The term ‘Counselling Psychologist' is a protected title (it is illegal to describe yourself as this unless you are a regulated doctor of counselling psychology). Counselling psychologists are rigorously assessed during their doctoral training and have extensive experience working in the NHS and charitable organisations as part of their standard qualification. I had year-long placements where I trained in cognitive behaviour therapies and psychodynamic therapy, and specialist placements working with primary school children and women during the perinatal period.
By choosing to work with a counselling psychologist you can be confident that your clinician possesses both breadth and depth of knowledge.
