About me

I provide a welcoming, safe and confidential space for individuals and couples to explore whatever it is that needs attention. I use my own creativity to tune into the unique and individual needs of my clients, supporting them in telling their story and being with their thoughts and feelings in whatever way feels right for them.

I trained as a psychodynamic and person-centred counsellor at The University of Edinburgh some 10 years ago and have since run my own private practice in the centre of Edinburgh and Gullane, East Lothian. More recently, I have expanded my therapeutic work by training in Systemic Constellations, where family of origin and somatic experience are included as a way of deepening understanding of client experience. I am trained in couples or relationship therapy from a Gestalt/systemic constellations perspective.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc Politics, University of Bristol
  • Diploma in Counselling, University of Edinburgh
  • Foundation Training in Systemic Constellations
  • Applied Training in Systemic Constellations
  • Relationship/Couples Therapy (Gestalt/Systemic Constellations)

Ongoing CPD in a variety of areas, including creativity and play, spirituality, modern slavery, fatherhood, attachment, dreams, neurodiversity, and sexuality.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer an initial online session for individuals and an initial in-person session for couples. These sessions give us the opportunity to see what it might be like to work together. I usually work face-to-face with individuals and couples, though online work is also a possibility.

I usually work in East Lothian on Mondays and Edinburgh on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, though working at other times (evenings, Thursdays, Fridays) is possible for couples. The word 'couple' can be understood in a variety of ways and encompasses any close relationship involving two people (single, married, separated, related, polyamorous, etc.)
