About me
I am Dr Abida Choudhry, a chartered psychologist (BPS accredited), a registered counselling psychologist (BPS accredited) and a registered Practitioner Psychologist (HCPC accredited). I am a fully qualified and an experienced EMDR therapist.
If you are suffering from depression, anxiety, abuse, childhood truama, OCD or a relationship difficulty, please book an assessment with me. I am currently accepting new clients. I can offer a face to face appointment in Solihull area or provide therapy online to clients across the UK.
I understand initiating therapy can be hard. I offer an initial consultation where you begin to explore your concerns and see if you would like to work with me. I offer a confidential, non-judgmental and safe space to my clients.
During our initial sessions, we will delve deeply into the issues at hand, and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you get your life back. Most of my clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first few sessions and sustained improvement thereafter.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have completed a MSc in psychology, MSc in health psychology and a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.
I am qualified clinical supervisor trained from The Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training & Research and a BPS accredited clinical supervisor (eligible for BPS' Register of Applied Psychological Practice Supervisors (RAPPS).
I am registered Expert Court Witness (BPS) working within the area of family court and immigration.
Over the years, I have performed several leadership roles as a senior Psychologist within the NHS. My clinical work involved professional management and clinical leadership of psychologists and other clinicians.
As a consultant, I have been providing assessments and psychological treatment to adults, children, adolescents, and families. I have worked with diverse client groups and provide a culturally sensitive therapy. My specialist field is psychological trauma, an area within which I have worked extensively over the past 11 years.
I am registered clinical supervisor.
My area of research is Muslim clients in therapy.
