About me
About Me
My name is Aaron Thorpe, and I am a MBACP, MA qualified counsellor with over 20 years of experience in education, teaching, and leadership. The foundation of my career—and my therapeutic work—has always been this belief: every individual life matters.
I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel genuinely valued, heard, and seen, without judgment. Together, we will build a relationship rooted in trust and understanding, helping you feel connected to yourself and others.
My Approach
I believe that as human beings, we are deeply relational. We thrive when we experience connection but struggle when relational disruptions create faulty internal narratives—stories that leave us feeling unworthy, undervalued, or disconnected from our true selves. These narratives often manifest as self-doubt, low self-esteem, anxious thoughts, or loneliness, holding us back from living authentically.
My goal is to help you understand and transform these narratives. Through relational therapy, key tools, and evidence-based approaches, I’ll support you in reconnecting with your authentic self. Together, we’ll build the confidence to set healthier boundaries, trust your feelings, and make decisions aligned with your values.
What to Expect
Therapy with me is about more than addressing symptoms—it’s about creating a radical shift in how you see yourself and your life. While the journey may not always be easy, the rewards are transformative. You’ll uncover a deeper sense of self-worth, strengthen your relationships, and design a life that feels more whole, balanced, and fulfilling.
Next Steps

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified senior teacher with over 20 years experience of working with families, young people and adults within a professional environment. I have an MA in Integrative Counselling and am a member of the BACP. I currently have a private online practice and work for a well established online counselling platform, with a range of relational, personal, psychology and emotional issues. I seek to create a welcoming space where my clients feel valued, heard and accepted so that they can develop more self confidence and build a stronger sense of agency to move on with their lives. Seeing individuals thrive is my passion.
I am continually reading and updating my skills so that I am up to date with all the latest counselling developments to ensure my clients receive the best possible professional service.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions (ACC) is a Christian professional membership organisation for those involved in counselling/psychotherapy and linked professions, i.e. pastoral care, coaching and spiritual direction, in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
