Can feeling stuck be positive?

Yuck - feeling stuck can be stagnant and oppressive.

When we feel stuck we can do two things: we can look on the outside to blame other people, or look inside and beat ourselves for how bad we are. But what are our 'stuck' feelings telling us?

Maybe feeling stuck lets us know that an internal change is needed, telling us that what we were doing is no longer working for us. So - does this mean feeling stuck can give us a time of stillness; a fertile ground for transformation? Maybe. Just as a river becomes narrower and still before it breaks through to a larger body of water. How many times have you heard "it's all in the preparation?". I wonder if feeling stuck can be viewed as an invitation to grow.

So, in order to grow, do we need to contract before we expand; does feeling stuck offer us a time of introspection and reflection?

Transactional Analysis, founded by Eric Berne in the 1950s, works with the theory of 'script'. Our 'script' is the story that we wrote for ourselves - how we decided to live our lives.

As children we decided how our river is going to flow.

When we feel stuck, we've hit a dam - we need to re evaluate. Transactional analysis can help you redecide your course.
