Supervision details

Are you a qualified or student counsellor/psychotherapist looking for online or face-to-face supervision?  If so, then maybe I can help you and support your needs.

I am a BACP Accredited Integrative Psychotherapist and Supervisor and draw upon a broad spectrum of psychotherapeutic knowledge and tune my approach to match the uniqueness of each person I work with.

My area of expertise is eating disorders. I am a Mental Health Spokesperson for Sport England, a Beat Media Volunteer, and on the BACP Expert Panel for eating disorders. I am trained in CBT-E (Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) which is the leading evidence-based and most effective treatment for eating disorders.

I have completed the Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision including online and telephone working with Counselling Tutor. I trained in Shohet and Hawkins’ Seven-Eyed Model which integrates the relational and systemic aspects of supervision.

Working online has highlighted the need to understand the nuances of digital therapy and the need to be supervised with these nuances in mind.  If you're looking at developing your online practice then I can offer you supportive clinical supervision and understanding around your online practice or placement.

My Post Graduate Diploma is in Relational Therapy whose central premise is that it is through relationships that we become and maintain who we are, and it is through the therapeutic relationship that personal change can take place. Additional training has included Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and I use their techniques to assist with changing thoughts and behaviours, building self-compassion and reducing shame. I also use Transactional Analysis (TA) which is a psychoanalytic theory and method of therapy wherein social interactions (or “transactions”) are analyzed to determine the ego state of the communicator (whether parent-like, childlike, or adult-like) as a basis for understanding behaviour.

I offer a safe professional space both ‘in the room’ and online to allow personal and professional development. I will facilitate structured reflection on your practice, and encourage the development of skills, knowledge, awareness and ethical judgement, within a supportive relationship. I monitor my supervisory practice by attending regular supervision and am committed to my self-development.

One critical area of supervision is ensuring that my theoretical knowledge of your therapy modality is sufficient for me to understand how you apply theory to practice. Please explore my website for more information about me to ensure I am the right Supervisory fit for you.

Feel free to message me if you are interested and I look forward to hearing from you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
