Supervision details

Accredited BACP Psychotherapist & Supervisor

I supervise trainee and qualified therapists/coaches online.

My practice has evolved over my 17 years as a therapist and my theoretical framework is integrative (though forever mindful of my person-centred roots). I practice mindfulness and have a strong interest in neuroscience and neurodiversity, all of which may inform my practice from time to time.

I am passionate in supporting other therapists to grow and thrive within this rewarding & caring profession. I currently work in private practice and have worked previously for the NHS, a sixth form college, a university, charity and a county council.

My original training was in clinical hypnotherapy and NLP back in 2000. Desperate to work more long term and in depth with clients I went on to study person centred counselling at Warwick University comparing and contrasting it with CBT and psychodynamic counselling over the 4 year degree.

In addition I have undergone the process of Accreditation with BACP and able to assist other therapists through the accreditation process.

My qualifications:

Level 6 Diploma in Clinical Supervision 2022

BACP Accreditation 2019

BA (Hons) Counselling & Psychotherapy, Warwick University 2011-2016

Diploma in Hypnotherapy, NLP & Coaching 2005

Our first session
If you are thinking of changing supervisor or looking for your first supervisor (how exciting!) please contact me and we can have an initial chat to see if we are a good fit. Finding the right supervisor is really important for your growth and wellbeing as well as best practice.

I have had 8 supervisors since starting my therapy training in 2001, the longest relationship being six years. All of those relationships have been valuable in one way or another and I have learnt so much ( and continue to learn!) Different work places and placements often means you don't get to choose your own supervisor but if you are in the position of choosing your own now then please take your time.

If you are interested in us working together & would like to talk further, please contact me direct at hilarydixon@positivenewyou.co.uk or via my website www.positivenewyou.co.uk where you will find free appointment slots. Alternatively please pick up the phone and call me on 07752219118 and leave a message. I look forward to speaking with you, Hilary.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
