Explore the history and legends surrounding Brean Down, get outside and admire the views on a gentle guided walk, before heading back to compose pieces of writing 9:30 - 4:30pm.

Dawn McHale has worked in health and well-being settings for over 30 years. She is a counsellor and supervisor, and has published articles and poetry. Dawn has a diploma in creative writing for therapeutic purposes, has delivered presentations at a range of conferences and workshops on well-being and creative process for Mind, Cruse Bereavement Care, LinkAge, Carers, Self-Injury Self-Help, Bristol City Council, City of Bristol College, and the NHS. She is treasurer of Lapidus South West, the national organisation for arts and health.

Nick Hanks is a professional archaeologist who currently works for Historic England. He has devised and led guided walks in a range of landscapes in the South West for 25 years with a blend of archaeology and storytelling. He has lectured on landscape archaeology and more recently also the art of guided walks at several universities. He has studied a number of landscapes, in particular Brean Down for the last 20 years. He has published research and presented at international conferences. Amongst his varied work has been working with Bedouin soldiers in Cornwall. He studied both archaeology and drama at university.

Nick and Dawn are professional storytellers known as: Time & Tide Taletellers (follow them on Facebook). They have delivered stories at various indoor and outdoor locations for clients including at WWT Slimbridge, Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery and the National Trust.

Maximum 25 people, £35 per person, hot drinks provided but not lunch – attendees encouraged to buy lunch in café.
