This training will examine the transition to parenthood for adoptive couples and the specific issues that arise for these couples during and after the adoption process. The impact of the adopted child on the couple relationship and the impact of the couple’s own relationship on the adopted child will be explored.

Practitioners will also be helped to think about dynamic issues within the couple relationship with the aim of enhancing couple functioning and of promoting resilience. The training will equip practitioners to recognise and respond to relationship difficulties in adoptive couples.
