Supervision details
SUPERVISION: Within supervision I seek to work collaboratively with qualified and trainee counsellors, providing an opportunity to reflect on and explore counselling work with an experienced practitioner. I believe the supervisor-supervisee relationship is central to effective supervision where counsellors can explore self-awareness in the counselling process, develop their skills and understanding of their counselling model and feel encouraged in their practice.
Aims within supervision:
Reflect on counselling work, exploring the therapeutic relationship, interventions used and provide a place to be curious about your work and the the client's story.
Exploring the impact of counselling work on you personally.
Managing caseload, case note writing skills, addressing ethical issues and professional development.
Exploring ways of developing knowledge through identifying relevant CPD, literature or work experiences.
We can also focus on use of a professional journal and developing your professional portfolio. Provide a place of accountability, where you can reflect back on your ongoing counselling work.
I offer monthly, twice monthly or flexible supervision arrangements. I am aware that some colleges require trainee counsellors to have more than monthly supervision and am happy to work in this way. At times, counsellors are aware that they require extra supervision if they are facing challenging issues within practice or in their response to their work. Again, I am happy to offer more than monthly supervision regularly or as required for counsellors and am very happy to discuss your supervision requirements.
Supervision fee:
Individual: £50 per hour
Trainee counsellors: £45 per hour
College report: £40 per report
Group supervision: £40 per counsellor for one and a half hour session (up to 4 counsellors in a group). 2 hour group session available.
Please contact me if you sih to have group supervision, even if you do not have others to make a group with, as others may do that same and a group can be created.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
