About me

You may be seeking therapy for a particular reason, such as depression, anxiety, bereavement or relationship difficulties. You don't need to know exactly what is wrong, or how to put it into words, before you get in touch.

Sometimes it is a time of change that brings people to therapy: a bereavement, a separation, retirement, redundancy or a change of work. These times often stir older questions, and are not only about the current situation. Some people come without a problem to solve. They want to look at their life, and at what they want it to be.

I am a BACP accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor, working with adults from my consulting room in Hastings and online. I offer a non-judgmental and secure space to work through whatever brings you into therapy, at your own pace.

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually once a week. Therapy can be for a fixed period or open-ended. I also offer twice-weekly sessions, which some people find gives the work more time and depth. I work with adults of all ages, including people coming to therapy for the first time later in life.

I currently have space for new clients. Please get in touch by phone or email to arrange a first meeting

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience of working with adults of all ages who come to therapy for issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, career transitations, relationship difficulties, divorce, OCD, sexual abuse, menopause, chronic illness and finding meaning in life.

I have a particular interest in working with dreams and creativity.

I hold the following qualifications:

PGDip Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy
Certificates in Counselling Skills and Counselling Studies
Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
BA (Hons) Jurisprudence

In addition to private practice I work in a charity providing community counselling and have worked with a hospice.

Before training as a therapist I worked at a senior level in national government, focusing on criminal justice and forensic mental health.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
