I went for counselling in 2012 due to being an emotional wreck. I was crying, worried and close to a breakdown. I sought a counsellor in the North West and she was brilliant from day 1. She explained the cause of my issues, how it was affecting my life and how I could deal with it. Although it was expensive, it was worth every single penny. My therapy was CBT - transactional analysis and there is a range of good books to support your therapy. Be careful when choosing your counsellor - I have been to one before who diagnosed me with anxiety yet her treatment was not right for me. Trust your instinct; meet the counsellor first and get a feel for them and their therapy options.
