About me
My approach
Hello and thank you for visiting my profile. I am a fully qualified Integrative Relational Counsellor committed to supporting you through whatever challenges, concerns or difficult feelings you may currently be facing. The relationship that we build will form the foundation of our work and together, we can create a collaborative space where you feel able to explore and make sense of your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
I believe counselling provides an opportunity for you to reconnect with who you really are, fostering greater confidence, resilience and self-awareness. My approach is integrative, meaning I tailor our work to your unique needs by drawing from different but complementary therapeutic approaches, such as psychodynamic and humanistic. This allows us to explore the behaviours and patterns that may be holding you back and find new ways of relating to yourself and others.
Perhaps you are struggling with low self esteem and need support at a difficult time in your life? Or maybe you would like to explore difficult feelings such as anger, depression or anxiety? Are challenging relationships impacting your daily life? Or maybe painful suppressed childhood experiences and emotions are holding you back? These are all things that we can work together to explore within the context of your life story. Whatever your situation and needs I work with warmth, empathy and curiosity to enable you to develop the tools and insights needed to move forward and make choices that feel right for you.
I offer sessions in person in Wimbledon which offers easy access to the surrounding areas. I also work online. Sessions can be either short term (6-12 weeks) or long term (open ended) depending on your needs.
Initial call
I offer a free 15-minute telephone call where we can discuss your needs. I can tell you a bit more about how I work, and answer any questions you might have. You don’t need to share too much, I might just ask some questions about the support you’re seeking. If you decide you’d like us to work together, we will then arrange the first session.
Session information
Sessions are always 50 minutes long. If we are working online I will provide a link ahead of time. During the first session, we will explore your thoughts and feelings about therapy, discuss your expectations and goals, and address any questions you may have.
During the first session we will also discuss our client / counsellor agreement.
My practice rooms are accessible via stairs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BA (Hons) in Integrative Relational Counselling from Middlesex University (BACP accredited course).
I am also a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their ethical framework. I am committed to ongoing professional development to stay informed on the latest research and advancements in counselling and mental health.
I currently work in private practice and with a low-cost counselling service. I also have experience of providing counselling within the NHS in a GP setting.
Areas of Experience
I have worked with clients facing a range of challenges, including:
- Anxiety, depression, and panic attacks
- Low self-esteem and self-worth
- Work-related stress and burnout
- Redundancy
- Relationship difficulties and emotional abuse
- Life transitions, mid-life concerns, carer and parenting struggles
- Loss and bereavement
- The impact of shame and self-criticism
- Emotional neglect and trauma
- Overthinking and perfectionism
- Family issues
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over 15 years working in the public sector, so I understand the unique pressures faced by those in healthcare, social care, and the NHS. I have experience of working with health professionals, including doctors and nurses.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
