This Is Me

Hello, my name is Zoë, I am an experienced and registered counsellor, offering private therapeutic counselling sessions face to face, online or via telephone.

I understand it can be difficult to come to counselling and I hope to be able to offer you a safe, welcoming, accepting space, where you can feel able to explore what is going on for you.

Your feelings matter, and I understand that sometimes it can be difficult to make sense of them. Life can feel heavy, complicated and confusing for many different reasons and feelings such as overwhelm, stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, anger, low self-esteem and sadness can often be experienced, and, can be challenging to navigate.

I believe that we all have the capacity for personal growth and within us we have everything that we need to make the changes we seek. However, sometimes our environment and experiences can be so overwhelming that we feel held back from such possibilities. Understanding what is going on for you, both mentally and physically, can bring a closer connection with yourself and a deeper awareness of your potential.

How can I be of help to you?

I offer a confidential and non-judgemental space where together we can explore your thoughts and feelings, to help gain a sense of what is going on for you. I will be alongside you as you gain a deeper awareness of your experiences in life, your feelings, and your individual way.

My approach centres on you, your needs and your hopes for personal growth and change. My role is to create a therapeutic relationship where you can feel deeply heard and understood, just as you are.  Such a relationship can facilitate connection and awareness with yourself, which in turn enables personal growth and empowerment towards a way of living that feels right for you.

I hope to help you discover your inner power to work through the issues that you are experiencing and create the change that you wish to make.

How we can work together

The counselling relationship is very important to me, so it is my intention to work with you in a genuine relationship built on understanding, acceptance and trust. To help you feel comfortable with me and discuss any queries that you may have around the counselling process, I offer a free telephone consultation by appointment. This 20 minute consultation is valuable to help us identify and understand how I may be of help to you and whether I am the right person to support you.

If you are considering counselling and would like to get in touch, I welcome your contact on email, text or telephone.

Training, qualifications & experience

I work with clients with a wide range of presenting issues and backgrounds, always valuing the unique experience of the individual. I am experienced in working with many of life's concerns and am open to working with whatever you bring.  My experience includes working with issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, anger, trauma, low mood, low self-esteem and self-worth, loneliness, inner-critic, identity, change, ADHD, ASD, eating disorders, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, addiction, relationship and family issues, women's issues, abuse, loss and bereavement.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
