About me

Hello and welcome to my page.

I am Zehra, a registered psychotherapist working in private practice. I believe that different people benefit from different types of therapy at different times in their lives. Therefore, my approach to therapy is pluralistic/integrative where I tailor our work according to your therapeutic needs and goals.

If you are someone looking to learn strategies and tools to help with your anxiety, a behavioural approach such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) might suit you best. If you are someone looking for a more exploratory approach where you can reflect on your life, your relationships and the changes you want to make a humanistic approach such as existential or psychodynamic therapy might work well for you. You might also be interested in combining different approaches.

One of the most significant indicators of effective therapy is the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client. In my therapeutic work I focus on developing a good relationship and offering a safe relational space through which we can explore your concerns - whether it is long-term or short-term therapy. You are welcome to get in touch with me for a 20min free initial online consultation where we can meet and discuss your needs from therapy.

I offer both online and in-person sessions on Gloucester Road, South Kensington.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working in the NHS, the charity sector and higher education institutes. I specialise in working with loss and grief which includes bereavement and death but also loss of self/identity through significant life changes such as the end of a relationship(s), changes in physical and mental health due to chronic illness and life transitions such as moving countries or settling into university or work. Other sub-specialisations of mine include working with anxiety, depression and relational trauma (childhood and adult).

My qualifications:

  • MSc in Psychological Counselling (MBACP registered) – Regent’s University, London, England
  • Master of Arts (MA), Psychology  – Columbia University, New York, United States
  • Bachelor of Science Honours (BScH), Psychology – Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
